Extended hours for Camberley Community Recycling Centre

Surrey Heath TipCamberley residents will be able to visit their local community recycling centre later in the day when new extended opening hours are trialled for six months from 1 April.

The Wilton Road centre will open until 7.30pm every day to make it more convenient for residents to visit, while helping to reduce queuing traffic on the site and improve recycling rates.

Dr Lynne Hack, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment believes the new hours will greatly benefit local residents.

She comments: “One of our main priorities is to make recycling easier and more accessible for residents. By extending the summer opening hours of the centre daily from 8am to 7.30pm, people will be able to fit in a visit after work or after going to the supermarket, reducing the need to make a special trip and encouraging them to make greater use of the facilities.”

The community recycling centre handles a wide variety of waste including plastic bottles, wood, cardboards, fluorescent light tubes, green garden waste, carpet and textiles.

Full details of the new opening times can be found on the recycling pages of Surrey County Council’s website at http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/recycling or for more information call SITA Surrey on 01306 748 300 or email surrey.waste@sita.co.uk.
