The Spice Lounge in Mytchett hosts Kings art exhibition

The Spice Lounge - Kings Art Exbo Oct 11The Spice Lounge Indian Restaurant in Mytchett was turned into an art gallery on Monday when the art department from Kings International College in Camberley held an ‘art and curry’ fundraising event.

Students work was on display on the walls as parents, local residents, students and staff enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant. A percentage of the cost of the meal was donated to the art department to help buy art materials as well as hard board, display boards and fasteners to house work for moderation and exhibitions.

Table magic was performed by one of the students, and a raffle helped to boost to amount raised to £400. Mr Bradley and his team from the art department at Kings chose a selection of work from every year group to display. Mr Bradley said he was thrilled to have the opportunity to show the local community the high standard of work the students at the college produce.

The art and curry night is one of a number of fundraising the events the newly opened restaurant has hosted in recent weeks, and the restaurant was packed for the event. Tina Carney, who’s daughter is taking art GCSE said “this has been a fantastic evening, the food is wonderful and the artwork amazing. It’s made me really proud to see the students work on display”.

The Spice Lounge Indian Restaurant opens in Mytchett – Win free tickets to launch party

Spice Lounge - Mytchett

A fantastic new Indian Restaurant has opened in Mytchett that has a brilliant refreshing approach to Indian cuisine.

Firstly the chef only uses the freshest ingredients and refuses to use food colourings. So no bright red chicken tikka or bright yellow pilau rice.

Spice Lounge - MytchettThe restaurant itself has been very tastefully designed which makes the whole dining experience a real treat but at incredibly sensible prices.

The owner of the Spice Lounge (Mukta) is keen to give something back to the community and will be holding regular charity events at the Restaurant to help support local charities. The first such event is a VIP Charity Launch Party which will be held to support the Mayor’s Charity.

Last week some friends and I had a fantastic meal at the Spice Lounge. I had the Chicken Tikka Korai which was amazing. One of my friends enjoyed the meal so much they have been back already.

We have run a few competitions on the residents network before so here is a chance for you to win two free tickets to the VIP launch party of the Spice Lounge Indian Restaurant by answering this question:
