Brian May considering standing against Michael Gove in the General Election

Dr Brian MayCamberley & Sandhurst News & Mail has reported today that Queen guitar legend Dr Brian May is considering taking on Surrey Heath MP & Chief Whip Michael Gove in the May General Election.

The local paper describes it as a “Mouth watering prospect”.

Dr May is a staunch animal rights activist and a huge supporter of the local animal charity Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue.

He has also been a huge critic of the Conservative Party desire to re-introduce blood sports and this is clearly a way of taking the fight to the heart of Westminster.

The General Election will already prove to be interesting but if Dr May does actually go ahead with this, then things will be fascinating.

Quieter Road Surface Secured for M3 Jn2 – Jn4a

M3 - Image by EuchiasmusAt a meeting at the House of Commons on Wednesday 21st May 2014 attended by representatives of The Windlesham Society, Windlesham Parish Council and Michael Gove (MP) it was announced by Robert Goodwill (MP) that all 8 lanes of the M3 Smart motorway from Junction 2 to Junction 4a would now be resurfaced with the new quieter road surface. This work will take place at the same time as the Smart Motorway project avoiding future disruption.

Graham Bullen (Windlesham Society) and Conrad Sturt (Windlesham Society and Windlesham Parish Councillor) have worked tirelessly over the past two years to secure the quieter road surface for the residents of Windlesham, Lightwater, Bagshot and Surrey Heath. This has only been possible with the support of Michael Gove (MP Surrey Heath), local resident Peter Grainger and key members of Surrey County Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council who have supported the campaign.

Kings International College students excelling – Video blog and podcasts

Michael Gove at Kings

Michael Gove with Maths students at Kings

Recently I was fortunate to be invited to visit Kings International College during a visit by the Secretary of State for Education and Surrey Heath MP Michael Gove.

Students of the performing arts department treated guests to live music and drama performances. As one of the guests I was totally blown away by these performances. So much so I sought permission to come back to Kings and record some of the performances for this blog which can be found below.

Guests also visited the maths department at Kings which is having notable success in this subject across all age groups.

Speaking as a parent and having spent quite a bit of time at the school lately when I am considering secondary schools for my daughter, Kings will be a serious contender as a first choice school.

As well as academic achievement which has been significant recently, I was also very impressed with the emotional intelligence of the students.

Kings International College is an educational institution we can be very proud of.

Below is the content which I captured at the school recently which is made up of a video and two audio only podcasts so scroll down for all the content:
