Appeal to trace puppy walker – Bagshot Rape

Police VestDetectives investigating the rape of a woman in Bagshot last month are trying to trace a puppy walker seen in the area at the time to establish whether he saw the offender.

The incident took place around 2-20pm on Friday 27 June when the victim, a woman in her 40s, was approached by a man as she was walking along a footpath in the woods between the vicinity of Esher Road and the Pennyhill Park Hotel.

She was physically attacked by the offender who then carried out the serious sexual assault. The victim screamed for help and the man fled the scene.

Officers have already spoken to a witness who was in the woods where the incident occurred about half an hour before the attack and possibly saw the offender. The witness also saw another man walking a puppy and detectives would like to speak to this man to see whether he saw the offender.

Detective Inspector Sean Kelly, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, explained: “This man may have seen the offender and we would like to trace him as soon as possible as part of our ongoing investigation into this incident. Unfortunately we don’t have a particularly detailed description of him; all we know is that he was walking a puppy and he was dressed all in black.”

If you believe you are this man, or you know who he is, please contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting Operation Aero. The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
