Camberley Town Centre Vision: “This Is Our Town”

Welcome to CamberleySurrey Heath Borough Council has published an exciting new video outlining its vision for the future of Camberley Town Centre, detailing how, by 2018, it will be one of the top 100 towns in the UK.

This vision is supported by the council’s recently published Area Action Plan, which was highlighted as an exemplar document by the Planning Inspector, and continues to promote Camberley town centre as a thriving environment for living, shopping, leisure and evening entertainment.

Speaking about the Vision, Leader of Surrey Heath Borough Council, Cllr Moira Gibson said: “Delivering this Vision will enable Camberley to “step-up” to become a more regionally significant town centre, attracting even more high quality retailers and building on its reputation as a location for major events such as the recent RMA Freedom of Borough parade and the forthcoming Tour of Britain cycle race in September.

The Vision incorporates two of the town’s other great strengths, its strong military heritage, and its abundance of quality parks and green space, making it a very clean, green and safe environment to spend time.”

Surrey Heath Chief Executive, Karen Whelan added: “The vision also sets out ambitious plans for how the council, working with partners, will deliver a “gateway” to the town on the A30 London Road as well as the creation of a new town square and a refurbished Mall shopping centre.

This will be in addition to the £200 million planned investment into local transport infrastructure, focusing in particular on improvements to the M3 motorway, the Meadows gyratory and the London Road (A30).”

She added: “We are now at a very important stage in our plans for Camberley and the publishing of this new video will hopefully highlight to residents and partners our commitment to taking Camberley, from what is already a great town, to the next level in terms of regional importance.”
