Teenager charged with serious sex assault to appear in court

Police Vest 2A 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons has been charged with rape following a report of a serious sexual assault at the weekend.

The incident occurred when a woman in her 40s was walking along a footpath in the vicinity of Esher Road and Pennyhill Park Hotel at around 2.50pm on Friday, 27 June.

The boy has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at South West Surrey Magistrates Court in Guildford, on Tuesday, 1 July.

Officers continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time the offence occurred to contact them with information. This can be done by calling Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 4514005338 or information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
