This morning I visited Kings International to speak to Anna Strong about how the voting is going and I am afraid it is not good news. With only 4 days of voting left the Save our Pool campaign has slipped from 1st place to 3rd place.
But Anna and her incredible team remain focused and are working tirelessly on the campaign, posting messages on facebook/twitter, emailing local businesses and begging friends, family and acquaintances to vote online for a £25000 funding to save the pool at Kings International College.
It would be a community catastrophe if that pool is allowed to close and for once I am not appealing to you for your hard earned cash. You just have to vote online here – https://www.engagemutual.com/foundation/projects/save-our-swimming-pool/
To be honest the registration process to vote could be simpler but by voting you would be making a huge difference to our community and protecting a vital asset for generations of swimmers.
There are local special needs groups who benefit from free pool time at Kings and only today I witnessed children having substantially subsidised swimming lessons. Some of those children come from families who may be otherwise unable to afford to have swimming lessons.
Its not all bad news, The Kings Pool is only 100 or so votes behind the leader. We really could win £25k if every subscriber of the Residents Network voted. There are lots of local facebook groups where if only a small percentage of the followers voted would secure the funding.
Please vote and do it now so you don’t forget. Please post a link to this blog post to your own facebook walls and your twitter feeds and encourage all your friends/followers to vote. Email all your family, friends and work colleagues and do the same. As a community we can make a huge difference and touch many peoples lives.
If you have any problems voting, call or text Anna Strong and she will help you. every single vote counts so she wants to hear from you: 07947 451460
This is a podcast I recorded with Anna Strong this morning and below I have added images so you can see just what a poor state the building is in.
