Representatives from over 80 local businesses joined council officers and councillors at Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Business Breakfast event on Friday 24 February.

The meeting, which is held twice a year at The Camberley Theatre, invites businesses in the borough to sit down for breakfast and network with one another, whilst finding out new information and listening to guest speakers.

The first guest speaker was Geoff French, Chairman of the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). He explained that this LEP had been set up to bring the public and private sectors closer together, as well as highlighting the M3 Enterprise vision to be one of the premier locations in the country for enterprise and economic growth. The Enterprise M3 LEP covers 14 district areas over Surrey and Hampshire. More information is available from www.enterprisem3.org.uk

The second speaker was Leader of Surrey County Council, Councillor David Hodge. He stressed the importance of all 12 Surrey councils (including county, borough and district) working together in a “one team approach”.

Following the speeches, a question and answer session gave delegates the opportunity to raise any queries they had about what they had heard.

Leader of Surrey Heath Borough Council, Councillor Moira Gibson said: “Once again it has been a successful Business Breakfast. The event went very well and the delegates I spoke to afterwards found it useful.

“Teamwork was very much at the forefront of the meeting. I was pleased Geoff French was able to inform people of the importance of the Enterprise M3 LEP; similarly Councillor Hodge’s speech reiterated the importance of how the county council works with its boroughs and districts.”

The next meeting will take place at The Camberley Theatre on Friday September 28 2012 and businesses interested in attending or exhibiting should visit: http://www.surreyheath.gov.uk/business
